Who We Are...
Driven by a team of dedicated cattle enthusiasts from across Western Australia; the WA Youth Cattle Association proudly hosts the annual WA Youth Cattle Camp in Brunswick WA each year.
Established in 2005, the first Camp welcomed 56 entrants competing in either beef or dairy to come together and gain hands on experience in cattle management and handling. Now, 20 camps later, the Camp fills 100 entrant applications within 48 hours of opening.
Entrants range from 8 to 25 years in age, and from little or no experience, to our States Champion Handlers.

The WAYCA caters for it's participants through a structured day-to-day program and is the only youth cattle competition in Australia that incorporates both beef and dairy programs in a single event. Taking place over three days at the Brunswick Showgrounds in April each year, participants gain valuable knowledge and experience in cattle husbandry, herd management and exhibition. Additionally, the entrants are exposed to safe livestock handling techniques, animal welfare and the latest industry standards in production and show preparation.

More than cattle, every participant gets the opportunity to engage with leading industry professionals, build confidence within themselves, gain life skills including public speaking and problem solving, and most importantly, create friendships that can last a lifetime.

From the showring to careers within the industry and beyond, the WA Youth Cattle Association is proud to recognize the positive contribution the Camp has had on past participants, and strives to continue generating pathways and helping our youth become involved in our WA cattle industry.
